Don Bennett is long time resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas, having moved there in 1981 to attend the University of Arkansas where he studied landscape architecture and environmental science. Don raised two lovely daughters who grew up playing in a two acre field behind his home which is now Tri Cycle Farms. Don spent close to 25 years observing this land and dreaming of its possibilities.
In 2011 Don was deeply moved when he discovered the extent of food insecurity in this country and especially his home state. This set in motion many community partnerships that have laid the foundation for his vision of a community-based, sustainable farm park in the heart of the city of Fayetteville.
As the Founder/Director of Tri Cycle Farms, Don’s varied professional experiences in sales, horticulture and renewable energy as well as many back porch conversations with like-minded friends have allowed him to understand what it takes to make this transformative project a success. Don’s vision of the future for his community is to inspire others to create an edible landscape throughout the city recapturing their food sovereignty and helping to alleviate the growing problem of food insecurity.
