Rebecca Miles currently serves as an Instructor in the Management Department of the Walton College of Business and serves as a faculty representative for Teaching Innovation Initiatives for the Office of the Vice Provost for Distance Education at the University of Arkansas.
She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Behavioral Studies in Education from Oklahoma State University, an M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Central State University (Oklahoma), and a B.S. in Psychology from Oklahoma Christian College. After completing a year of post-doctoral studies at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Dr. Miles took a 20-year sabbatical from academia. She was accepted into the Management Development Program at American General Corporation and, upon completion of the program, served as an internal consultant for American General Life Insurance Company until December 1997, when she accepted a position as Human Resources-Training Manager at Enron. While at Enron, she was selected for the SAP implementation team and, ultimately, become a Director of Change Management for the Enron SAP Center of Excellence. In 2001, she was recruited by Accenture and served as a Senior Manager, providing change management consulting services for IT projects.
In 2004, Dr. Miles accepted a position as Vice President of Change Management at Tyson Foods and moved from Houston to Fayetteville, coming full circle to the state where she was born. In 2006, she became sole owner of a small business in Fayetteville; in 2007, she began teaching part-time at the Walton College of Business. She closed the business in 2008 to return to academia full time. She has continued to teach management classes while providing project and/or organizational change support for various entities within the University of Arkansas, including the IT Research Institute (overseeing RFID pilot projects and authoring white papers), The Sustainability Consortium (providing organizational change support), and her current role with the Office of the Vice Provost for Distance Education.
Dr. Miles serves on the Faculty Senate at the University, as well as teaching in the Executive MBA program, serving as a faculty advisor for Students Acquiring Knowledge Through Enterprise (SAKE), serving as an Honors Thesis Advisor, representing Faculty Senate on the University Wellness Coalition, and learning (albeit not very successfully) not to be the first to volunteer.
